When the Brain Burns: Cahalan’s Brain on Fire as a Hypertext Neuronovel

Abstract

I argue that reading Brain on Fire as a hypertext that creates a multilinear structure focusing on both the personal first-person experiences of her illness alongside outside perspectives. This paper will argue reading Brain on Fire as a hypertext neuronovel creates a multilinear structure that focuses on the personal, the social, and the scientific perspectives.
